Southbridge - South Bridge Chip (I / O Control Hub: ICH)
NOTE:
- The second largest on the main (only losing Chip North Bridge)
- There are two large chips, north bridge chip is the first chip, the rest is the southbridge
Duties:
- Manage and communicate with other components such as PCI slots, USB, Sound chip, LAN chip, the BIOS ROM chip SIO (SIO will manage alone: Keyboard, Mouse, FDD, COM, LPT)
Common errors:
- No source file (most common). Combined with SIO chip will interrupt control circuit, open source.
- Loss of clock reset (very common)
- Intermittent, not received or received but not run devices such as USB, HDD, CD, PCI ...
